Frequently Asked Questions.
Does my insurance cover chiropractic care?
We are in network with all major insurance companies. The benefits are specific to your policy so what we will do is check your policy for you and let you know what the benefits are before we start a treatment program.
What is a Chiropractor?
A doctor that helps people by correcting their nerves as they come out of the spine. They do this by checking the bones in the back called vertebrae to see if they are misaligned. If they are misaligned, called a subluxation, the chiropractor would perform an adjustment.
What is the Spine?
A column of bones, called vertebrae, in the middle of your back that is between your head and hips, or pelvis, that your spinal cord goes through.
What is a Vertebrae?
Square shaped bones, with a hole in the center of them, stacked on top of each other that make up the spine.
What is a Subluxation?
A misalignment, or out of correct position, of the bones in the spine causing pressure on nerves.
What is a Adjustment?
Moving the vertebrae back to the correct position taking pressure off the nerves. This is done by either the hands or an instrument.
What is a Spinal Cord?
A extension of your brain that runs through the spine where all of the nerves for your body come from. These nerves are in every part of your body and control all the ways your body works.
What can a chiropractor help with?
Back pain, neck pain, headaches, muscle pain, scoliosis (curving of the spine), coughs, colds, asthma, flu, joint pain, dizziness, and ear aches among many other things.
What education does a chiropractor have?
Chiropractors go to school for at least 2 years before they enter Chiropractic College. They then can receive their Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees while in Chiropractic College. You do not have to have a bachelor degree to start Chiropractic College. The chiropractic program is a 5 year program and the students go all year long (no summer breaks) so it actually takes about 3 ½ years to complete. Most of the classes that chiropractors take are the same as medical doctors. The college nearest to us is called Logan College of Chiropractic and is in Chesterfield, MO.
